Discover the Cape – preschool – Grade 7
Welcome to Cape for kids News and Views
As the year draws to a close we are so grateful for the many blessings. Thank you to all our clients for supporting our outings and for encouraging words and feedback. The year started with our awful drought and venues like Rondevlei were badly affected. We are delighted our dams are now 76% full and there is some respite. Our fynbos plants are amazingly resilient – Kirstenbosch is looking beautiful and so are many of our mountain areas. Building children’s awareness of the need to conserve water has been a key focus.
We are looking forward to a great 2019 so we encourage you to make your bookings to give your children a wonderful outing in some of the most beautiful places in Cape Town.
Reflections on 2018:
Cape for kids has continued to partner with SANBI (Kirstenbosch), TMNP ( Boulders) COCT (Rondevlei) and Imhoff Farm (Higgeldy Piggeldy Farmyard.) Thank you to all our partners for making the venues available to us.
Their partnership has also allowed us and our NPO partner, Starting Chance, to sponsor over 1000 children from the Mfuleni township to come on the Cape for Kids outings to Boulders and Kirstenbosch. Most of these children have never had the chance to go on an outing – so it has been an awesome year for them.
Educational Adventures in Nature for 2018 and 2019:
Preschool to Grade 3:
We offer puppet shows and interactive walks at Kirstenbosch and Rondevlei. We can link our programmes to your themes at school so please just let us know.
We will be offering “close encounters of a farmyard kind” at Higgeldy Piggeldy Farmyard, Imhoff and “close encounters of sea kind” at Boulders.
All our programmes are very interactive and children have the opportunity to observe and interact with the natural environment.
Grade 3 – Grade 7: Envirotrails:
Envirotrails are perfect opportunities for children to use creative problem solving to discover the environment around them. They are fun and interactive and help children to observe and get close to nature.
Envirotrails are available at Kirstenbosch, Rondevlei, Boulders and Higgledy Piggeldy Farmyard
